MPLS with its efficient routing and traffic management makes communication on networks easy, fast and convenient to access. MPLS has scored over conventional technologies such as ATMs, Frame Relays, etc. An ISP offering connection and networking through MPLS is perhaps more reliable than any other ISP today. MPLS because of the flexibility it offers and the streamlining it does, ensures that the correct IP packets reach their destination.
MPLS – Economical & Efficient
MPLS proves economical for Internet service providers as there’s no hardware or extra cost required to start operations. Efficiency is the key in data transfer and MPLS employs a lot of it through LERs (Label Edge Routers) that identify, then setting them on assigned LSPs (Labeled Switch Paths) and further on LSRs (Label Switch Routers) which puts labels on the outgoing packets.
